Highly informed, skilled care for high-risk pregnancies.

If you’re over age 35 or have certain medical conditions, your pregnancy may be automatically considered “high-risk.” Also, problems can develop during the pregnancy that can qualify it as high-risk, such as gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension or preeclampsia. At AWH, our doctors’ experience and commitment to excellence mean we’re able to provide the extra level of care necessary for high-risk pregnancies. We think this is a key reason we are continually named as top obstetrician-gynecologists in the area, and it’s a point of pride that our patients rarely require referral to subspecialty high-risk care.

Maximizing the safety and success of your pregnancy with expert nurse-midwives.

At AWH, our reputation for top-quality obstetric care is due in part to the dedication, knowledge and skill of our three highly trained and board-certified nurse-midwives. These women augment and extend the care we provide. First and foremost, nurse-midwives have been shown in studies to benefit the safety and outcomes for both baby and mother, as they do for our patients. Our midwives assist in deliveries (including C-sections), bringing an additional layer of care so you can have a healthy pregnancy, a successful delivery and a beautiful, happy baby!

In the era of Zika, we’re committed to keeping you informed and your baby safe.

The potential impact of the Zika virus is serious, including profound birth defects such as microcephaly, other brain abnormalities and lifelong problems. And like it or not, Zika is with us to stay, with no vaccine yet available. While this is scary, we’re here to help expectant mothers and women who plan to become pregnant understand and manage their Zika risks. As your partners in your pregnancy, we’ll keep you informed and empowered to stay safe and confident. For updated information on Zika from the Center for Disease Control, click here.
