Bone Density Scans Now Available at Our McKinney Location in McKinney, Texas

Why Bone Density Screening Matters

As women age, especially during and after menopause, bone health becomes increasingly important. Loss of bone density can lead to conditions such as osteoporosis, which increase fracture risk and impact quality of life. With an in-office bone density scan, you can gain clarity on your bone health and take proactive steps to protect your future.

Comfortable, Convenient, & Accurate

Our state-of-the-art bone density (DEXA) scanning equipment provides a quick, low-radiation way to assess your bone strength. You’ll thank yourself for choosing the ease of getting this important test at your trusted clinic, without the need to go somewhere else.

Who Should Consider a Bone Density Scan?

We recommend bone density screening for women:

  • Age 65 or older as part of routine preventive care
  • Age 50–64 who have one or more risk factors (such as early menopause, long-term steroid use, low body weight, family history of osteoporosis, or prior fracture)
  • Who are wondering about bone health in light of menopausal changes or a history of low bone density

Ask your provider if earlier screening is appropriate for you.

What to Expect During Your Scan

The procedure takes approximately 20 minutes, and you’ll be fully dressed (just no heavy outerwear or metal items covering the scanning area).
You’ll lie comfortably on a padded table while the scanner passes over you, non-invasive and painless.
Radiation exposure is very low, comparable to a few days’ worth of natural background radiation.
Your results will be reviewed by our team, and you’ll receive a clear summary of your bone density score (T-score) and what it means for you.
If necessary, we’ll discuss follow-up care, lifestyle changes, or treatments to help maintain or improve your bone health.

Preparation Tips & Insurance Info

Many insurance plans cover screening bone density scans when medically indicated. We recommend you check with your carrier ahead of time for your specific plan.
Comfortable clothing is best, avoid anything with zippers or heavy metal accents in the area to be scanned.
